Browsing Psicologia by Author "ASD - Autism Spectrum Disorder - is characterized by qualitative alterations in social skills, involving communication difficulties with the presence of repetitive and stereotyped behaviors. Although in Brazil there are laws that stipulate health as a right, and an obligation of the State, the difficulty in providing medical and therapeutic care for children with ASD in the health and education systems are still very insufficient. According to these problems, searching for an effective form of treatment for ASD in children is necessary to promote their adaptation into society, generate autonomy, and develop social skills. Thus, this research tried to highlight the benefits of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for children with ASD. To justify this work, it was based on the information that autism is one of the subjects that is continuously in evidence in scientific studies. Therefore, this study intended to contribute to science, especially psychology, with the presentation of updated studies regarding definitions of ASD, ways of evaluation, treatments, and focus on ABA science, which provides an improvement in the adaptation and behavior of children diagnosed with autism. This work had as a goal to describe a systematic review of the literature on ABA science-based treatment options for children with ASD, to contribute to the effective practice of evidence-based psychology. The research methodology consisted of a literature review with bibliographic data collection involving searches in books with titles pertinent to the topic, as well as in other scientific literature, abstracts and proceedings found online, indexed in databases such as Google Academic, SciELO, and Virtual Health Library of the Ministry of Health, published between 2013 to 2020. The results indicated that ABA acts in strengthening socially acceptable behaviors and modifying unacceptable behaviors that somehow hindered the family and school life of children with ASD. It is possible to conclude that the Brazilian scientific community still needs to conduct more studies and practices in the field of applied behavior analysis based on the dimensions and ethical principles that constitute science."
