| dc.description.resumo | The objective of this research was to analyze the perception of the home caregiver regarding the oral hygiene of dependent or semi-dependent elderly in the municipality of Sinop-MT. This is a quantitative and exploratory study with the participation of 43 informal caregivers of dependent and semi-dependent elderly enrolled in 5 Basic Health Units, randomly drawn out of the 24 existing units. Data was collected through interviews with pre-structured questions based on three questionnaires. The variables are: sociodemographic; degree of kinship; formality of care; daily working day; function time; frequency of hygiene and material used; type of feed; and number of patients with partial dentition, toothless and using prosthesis. The data found were tabulated through the statistical program For statistical analysis, the Qui Square method (X2) The results showed that caregivers provide care for the elderly, of whom 55.81% have total degree of dependence, 74.42% use toothbrush for oral hygiene, 46% of the elderly use prosthesis, 6.98% of the caregivers observed gingival bleeding in the elderly, and 74.42% receive oral hygiene. Through the analysis of the studied variables, it is concluded that informal caregivers have a good perception about the need for care related to oral hygiene of the dependent or semi-dependent elderly. | En |

| dc.description.abstract | O objetivo da pesquisa foi analisar a percepção do cuidador domiciliar frente à higiene bucal dos idosos dependentes ou semidependentes no município de Sinop-MT. Trata-se de uma pesquisa quantitativa e exploratória com participação de 43 cuidadores informais de idosos dependentes e semidependentes cadastrados em 5 Unidades Básicas de Saúde, sorteadas aleatoriamente dentre as 24 unidades existentes. Os dados foram coletados através de entrevistas com questões pré-estruturadas baseadas em três questionários. As variáveis foram: sócio demográficas; grau de parentesco; formalidade do cuidado; jornada de trabalho diária; tempo de função; higienização bucal e material utilizado; tipo de alimentação; e número de pacientes com dentição parcial, desdentados e que fazem uso de prótese. Para as análises estatísticas foi utilizado o método de Qui Quadrado (X2 ). Os resultados mostraram que os cuidadores prestam cuidados a idosos dos quais 55,81% apresentam grau de dependência total, 74,42% utilizam escova dental para higiene bucal, 46,52% dos idosos fazem uso de prótese, 6,98% dos cuidadores observaram o sangramento gengival nos idosos e destes, 74,42% recebem higienização bucal. Por meio da análise das variáveis estudadas, conclui-se que os cuidadores informais têm uma boa percepção sobre a necessidade dos cuidados relacionados com a higiene bucal dos idosos dependentes ou semidependentes. | en_US |
