| dc.description.resumo | The dental surgeon contributes to effectively restore systemically compromised patients and prevent severe complications in Intensive Care Units. Thus, the objective of this study was to highlight, within this unit, the role of the dental surgeon through a literature review using a qualitative approach and selecting scientific articles from the following online databases: Google Scholar, Scielo, PubMed. The categories for inclusion were full availability, in Portuguese or English, consistent with the theme and publication date between 2001 and 2022. It was observed that patients admitted to the ICUs had general health problems due to unfavorable conditions of the oral cavity. and may evolve into a pulmonary infection or a generalized infection. In this sense, it was intended to clarify the contributions of the dental surgeon in this space for the prevention of complications or harm to the patient's health. | En |

| dc.description.abstract | O cirurgião dentista contribui para restaurar eficazmente pacientes sistemicamente comprometidos e prevenir complicações severas nas Unidades de Terapias Intensivas. Desta forma, o objetivo deste estudo foi destacar, dentro dessa unidade, o papel do cirurgião-dentista através de revisão de literatura utilizando abordagem qualitativa e selecionando artigos científicos das bases de dados online a seguir: Google acadêmico, Scielo, PubMed. As categorias para inclusão foram a disponibilidade na íntegra, com idiomas portugueses ou inglês, com coerência com a temática e data de publicação entre 2001 e 2022. Observou-se que pacientes internados nas UTIs apresentaram problemas gerais de saúde, por condições desfavoráveis da cavidade oral podendo evoluir para uma infecção pulmonar ou uma infecção generalizada. Nesse sentido, pretendeu-se esclarecer as contribuições do cirurgião dentista neste espaço para a prevenção de complicações ou agravos a saúde do paciente. | en_US |
